Common questions

Are my emails deleted permanently?

No. Cleaned emails are moved to Gmail Trash, where Google keeps them for 30 days before removing them automatically. You can restore any email from Trash during that window — from the app or directly in Gmail.

A sender disappeared from my dashboard after cleaning. Why?

After you clean a sender's emails, that sender may no longer have inbox emails to show — so they drop off the dashboard list. They'll reappear if they email you again.

Why did cleaning remove more emails than the number shown on the dashboard?

Dashboard counts update as the app finishes scanning your inbox, so a sender's count can grow while a scan is still in progress. The confirmation dialog always shows the exact number that will move to Trash before anything happens.

How does unsubscribe work — and why do I sometimes see a web page?

The app follows the unsubscribe method the sender itself declares in its email headers. If the sender supports one-click unsubscribe, one tap is all it takes. Otherwise the app opens the sender's own unsubscribe page in a secure in-app browser, or falls back to a pre-filled email. The sender processes the request in all cases.

What is an auto-trash rule?

An auto-trash rule automatically moves future emails from a sender you've blocked straight to Trash. It is a real Gmail filter stored on your Google account — you can see, edit, or delete it any time in the app's rules screen or in Gmail itself (Settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses). Rules keep working even if you uninstall the app, so remove any you no longer want.

What's included in the free tier?

Cleaning up to 2,500 emails (a lifetime tally per account) and up to 3 auto-trash rules, with every privacy protection included. Zen Pro — a one-time purchase, no subscription — removes both limits.

How do I restore my Zen Pro purchase?

Open Settings → Restore Purchase in the app. Restoration is handled by the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) using the same store account that made the purchase. On iOS, Zen Pro also supports Family Sharing.

The app says my session expired or access was revoked.

This happens when the app's Gmail access was revoked (for example from your Google Account settings) or the sign-in expired. Just sign in again with Google — your auto-trash rules are unaffected, since they live on your Google account.

Delete your data / remove the app's access

Zen Inbox Cleaner keeps no data on any server — everything lives on your device and in your own Google account. To remove it:

  1. In the app (recommended): open Settings → Delete Account & Data. This revokes the app's Gmail access with Google and wipes all local data on the device, including the free-tier usage counter. You can also use Sign Out (wipes local data and tokens) or Revoke Gmail Access (revokes with Google, keeps your usage counter).
  2. From your Google account: visit myaccount.google.com/permissions, find "Zen Inbox Cleaner", and choose Remove Access. Then uninstall the app to clear the local cache.
  3. Auto-trash rules: any rules you created are standard Gmail filters on your Google account and stay after uninstall — delete them in the app's rules screen first, or in Gmail under Settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses.
